何謂OMR?(What is OMR?)

OMR是Optical Mark Recognition(光學劃記符號辨識)或是Optical Mark Reading(光學劃記符號讀取)的意思。

OMR是一種資料收集的技術,經由這種簡易且符合經濟效益的技術,準確將資料收集不僅可以取代繁瑣的人工輸入、
大量節省人力成本,並可於短時間內快速且集入電腦。
Through using OMR technology,asimply and reasonable method of entering data by document into a computer system becomes feasible to the general public.

如何應用OMR?(How does OMR function?)

使用者利用鉛筆或藍、黑原子筆在預先設計好的表格或欄位上勾選,再經由光學閱讀機掃描讀取後,將這些欄位轉換為資料儲存於電腦中。
Users could use pens or pencils to make marks in certain pre-defined positions on a form to indicate their responses. The Optical Mark Reader,which will detect the presence of those marks by measuring the level of reflecting light,
then scans the completed forms;the reader will convert those mark patterns into the meaningful data and transmits it to the computer for storage,analysis and reporting

OMR研發至今已可結合條碼(Barcode)、字元辨識(OCR即Optical Character Recognition)及影像掃描(Image Scanning)三種技術,增加資料收集的彈性及多樣性。
To increase the data entry flexibility,OMR could be used in combination with other data entry technologies like Barcode, OCR and Image scanning.

簡易性:只需以鉛筆或原子筆在設定好的空格(“ tick box ”) 內勾選,毋須具有電腦專業知識者即可使用。
Simplicity : Users could just use any ordinary pens or pencils to make a cross S or check R mark inside those “ £ Tick Boxes” to indicate their response.

準確性: 光學閱讀機將表格 (“form”) 掃描後,將使用者的劃記轉成資料儲存入電腦中,毋須再經由任何人工介入處理,大大提昇了資料收集的準確性。
Reliability:OMR readers simply scan the form and detect the presence of the marks, then pass the converted data to the computer without any intervention of human.
